On 18th October 2021, Galloways Society for the Blind held a Blind Driving Day at the Three Sisters Circuit in Wigan. This day gave blind and partially sighted people the opportunity to drive a school of motoring car, be passengers in various Porches and sports cars including an Aston Martin, TVRs, Jaguars and a rally car. They kindly offered us tickets so we could join them, and we ran it as a fundraising event, where some of our service users did the event sponsored to raise money for Walthew House. In total, we raised £545! Thank you to everyone who sponsored us! Despite the weather, we had such a fun-filled day. One person who took part says: “Absolutely amazing. Phenomenal. I have done a Blind Drive before, but the driving experience and the sports cars were absolutely made the day for me. I would love to do it again, would jump at the chance. The drivers were lovely, and really appreciate the time and effort they put in. Didn’t even notice the rain!”. Thank you Galloways for inviting us and we look forward to joining you next year!
