INFORMATION BULLETIN – COVID-19

  • 10 Downing Street has written to every household in the country to highlight the Government advice on coronavirus. To get the letter in an accessible format, you can email publiccorrespondence@cabinetoffice.gov.uk (a BSL video of this letter will be available today).
  • The Government has launched a voucher scheme for schools providing free school meals. Children eligible for free school meals will benefit from a national voucher scheme allowing them to continue to access meals whilst they stay at home. Schools can now provide every eligible child with a weekly shopping voucher worth £15 to spend at supermarkets while schools are closed due to coronavirus. Parents will receive the voucher through their child’s school, which can then be redeemed online via a code, or sent to their house as a gift card and used at supermarkets across the country.
  • The Association of British Insurers (‘The ABI’) has said that if you are using your own car for voluntary purposes to transport medicines or groceries to support others who are impacted by Covid-19, your cover will not be affected. You do not need to contact your insurer to update your documents or extend your cover. This applies to all categories of NHS Volunteer Responders, including transporting patients, equipment, or other essential supplies.
