INFORMATION BULLETIN – COVID-19

NEW GOVERNMENT RESTRICTIONS:  You can ONLY leave the house for the following:

  1. Shopping for basic necessities
  2. One form of exercise a day
  3. Any medical need/care for vulnerable person
  4. Traveling to and from work, only if absolutely necessary

ALL SHOPS, PLACES OF WORSHIP, WEDDINGS AND BAPTISMS SHUT AND CANCELLED.

  • Stepping Hill Hospital – Patient visitors during COVID-19 outbreak
    • Adult inpatient wards – suspended with immediate effect
    • Childrens ward – Only one parent or guardian and no one under the age of 16
    • Emergency Department – no adult patients to be accompanied by a visitor unless exceptional circumstances and only one parent or guardian accompanying a child
  • Changes to the BBC Signing Service from 23rd March:
    • Weekday mornings 7:45am-8:15am / Weekday lunchtimes 1:00pm – 1:30pm
    • Weekend mornings 7:00am-7:30am
  • From 30 March 2020, MOT due dates for cars, motorcycles and light vans will be extended by 6 months. This is being done to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. You do not need to do anything to extend your vehicle’s MOT expiry date if it’s on or after 30 March 2020. Your vehicle will be automatically given a 6-month MOT exemption.   • Contactless card limit increasing from £30 to £45 on 1 Apr.This is to encourage contactless transactions and help combat the spread of coronavirus, minimising the number of times you’ll need to touch a keypad to pay.  This won’t apply at every retailer from that date as the changes will take time to be rolled out.
  • Message from Greater Manchester Police – There is a text message circulating that says you have been fined for breaking lockdown rules.  If you receive one of these please do not panic as this is a scam.   • Stockport Council has been given new powers to close any businesses or venues who are ignoring the government’s social distancing measures in order to protect public health and the demand on our NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic.  If you are aware of any businesses or venues flouting the rules, please let us know if possible by email: environmental.health@stockport.gov.uk
