  • Department of Health & Social Care – Anyone over 65 with symptoms OR anyone symptomatic who needs to leave their home for work can now book a coronavirus test online for themselves and their household. Visit https://self-referral.test-for-coronavirus.service.gov.uk/test-type for more information.
  • Sight Advice FAQ has a very useful and informative section on their website to support people with independent living covering general coronavirus information, shopping, safe guiding, local support networks, hospital appointments and much more.   • Walthew House’s ‘Making More Happen’ Project has linked with Pilates Moves You to bring you a Pilates at Home programme for the next 4 weeks. Every Friday starting 8th May, we will share a 30 minute accessible Pilates workout to get you moving and keep you fit from the comfort of your own home. This will be available on our website under Making More Happen, on our Facebook and Twitter pages and will also be sent out with Talking News to ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to benefit from this.
  • Guide Dogs has launched a new phone line to support you during the coronavirus outbreak. They are providing answers and information for people with sight loss and their families during the coronavirus outbreak. They can help you identify ways to continue living actively, independently and well, refer you to their other services or help you access services by other providers. Please call 0800 781 1444 between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Deafblind customers who use BSL should contact Guide Dogs via the webpage https://www.guidedogs.org.uk/covid19 clicking on the SignVideo logo on the right hand side, or through a SignVideo app. This connects you to a SignVideo interpreter who will then connect to the information line.
  • ASDA has introduced a new Pharmacy Call and Collect Service whereby when you have a prescription ready to be collected, you drive to the store and park in one of the marked designated bays, phone the in store pharmacy team who will then come out and deliver your prescription to your car.   • ALDI has created a new way for shoppers to pay for food and essentials. You can buy special vouchers on their voucher website https://vouchers.aldi.co.uk/ and once purchased, these can be posted to any address in the UK so volunteers, friends or family members that can shop on your behalf. Vouchers are available in denominations of £5.00 and £10.00 with no additional cost for postage.
  • Recycling Centres Adswood Road and Bredbury Parkway recycling centres reopened on Saturday 2nd May. You will only be able to take bagged general waste (waste that you normally put in your general waste bin). They cannot accept any other types of waste. Adswood Road Recycling Centre is open Monday to Sunday 8am – 6pm and Bredbury Parkway Recycling Centre is open Saturday 8am-6pm and Sunday 8am-6pm. Please note they have introduced an odd and even number plate system to help manage traffic and reduce queuing. This means you can only visit the Recycling Centres on certain days depending on your vehicle registration plate.
