What D/deaf People Want

Back in April 2022, Walthew House, Manchester Deaf Centre and Bolton Deaf Society consulted with our communities on ‘What Deaf People Want’. Now we want to share the report with you.

The key findings of our consultation were that:

👉 D/deaf people want wider society to be more inclusive and accessible.

👉 D/deaf people prefer to receive support from a specialist support agency.

👉 D/deaf people prefer to receive support face-to-face.

The most common support needs identified were socialising, keeping fit and healthy, translating information into BSL, making telephone calls, and meeting other people with similar hearing issues for peer support.

You can find out more about the findings of the report in the slideshow below, which includes videos produced in British Sign Language.
