Lockdown Update

  • Walthew House – We have started Tech 1-2-1 which is a support service from the comfort of your own home. You might have technical or digital needs, need help with a certain device whether it be a phone, tablet, laptop or computer, or require information about assistive technology or something from our Resource Centre. You may even want to learn a new skill like how to send emails or how to make video calls to friends and family. Whatever it is please contact Naomi on 0161 480 2612 / mmh@walthewhouse.org.uk we have a group of volunteers including O2 gurus with a wide range of skills ready and waiting to help you.
  • Sign Health and Interpreter Now have together launched ‘BSLHealthAccess’ which provides instant and free BSL interpretation in health settings or via the phone during the COVID19 pandemic. Visit bslhealthaccess.co.uk for more information.
  • British Wireless for the Blind Fund have launched a short-term service called BWBFconnect to help people get connected to the outside world. Please note this is a couriered doorstep delivery. Please contact 01622 754 757 for full details Monday to Friday between 9am & 5pm where they will take your information and arrange for a volunteer or staff member to ring you at your convenience to talk you through the operation of your new radio.
  • Stockport Council and Stockport NHS CCG: Following on from last weeks’ bulletin where we told you about the mental health helpline, the council and Stockport NHS CCG have 2 new mental health support services which are:
    • ‘Big White Wall’ – offers 24/7 anonymous support via a digital emotional wellbeing and mental health service, offers peer support for anyone over the age of 16 as well as support from trained clinicians alongside a range of helpful tools and resources.     • An Emotional Wellbeing Hub which provides information, advice, and guidance for anyone up to the age of 25 for emotional wellbeing and mental health concerns. Access to this is through the Multi-Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub (MASSH) – 0161 217 6028 – 8.30am-5pm Mon – Thurs 8.30am-4.30pm on Friday.
  • Employ GM – If you or someone you know has lost their job or income as a result of COVID19, Employ GM connects employers who have urgent temporary vacancies with individuals across Greater Manchester. Visit www.employgm.org for more information.
  • The Stockport Islamic Centre are donating household grocery items to whoever requires it to help those in need in the Shaw Heath area. Please contact 07746 098 614.
  • Walthew House would like to know if coronavirus has affected you in the workplace and if so, how?
