Walthew House Cup 2023

We held our popular annual blind bowling event on Wednesday 22nd March, at Tenpin Parrs Wood. 17 teams took part in the event, which was also attended by the Mayor of Stockport, Councillor David Wilson. The aim of the event is to raise awareness of sight loss conditions, such as macular degeneration and glaucoma, as well as highlighting the work of our charity and how we support people across Stockport.

Each team of 4 were given blindfolds and pairs of spectacles which simulate a range of visual impairments, and then competed against each other over two games to battle it out to win the coveted Walthew House Cup! Here are the final standings from the event:

1st – Bury Blind Society (total team score of 909)
2nd – Ladybridge Golfers (888)
3rd – Lynx Taxis (885)

We are very pleased that the event raised an incredible £1,283 for our charity, which helps us to support adults and children in Stockport who are living with sight and/or hearing loss. Some of this income will be used to support our own bowling team for the rest of the year. The event would not have been possible without the support of the lane sponsors, to which we are very grateful:

A very big thank you to the staff at Tenpin Parrs Wood, who kindly host our event every year and help to make it such a success.
